Bangles, brooches & French finds......

all new this week....... beautiful mud swirl bakelite bangles, really love these colours because they go with everything! Lea Stein fairy brooch is really gorgeous...and Lea Stein lady bird brooch supposed to bring good luck.....Marie Pavone cat brooch, it's really hard to part with this one because it's so so adorable and that sweet Marie Pavone teddy brooch......

these old enamel teapots make great flower jugs......

a trio of brown bottles always makes a statement.....

the window display at the moment has a mixture of French watering cans, rustic painted stool, French oyster baskets  and of course an amazing French bust!

In the oyster baskets is some old flour and porridge sacks along with some French Hessian cushion covers between 60-80 years old! I can just imagine them filled with a feather pillows deluxe!

These sieves are from the 1920's and were used to transport baked items from the bakery to the patisserie...they look great hanging......or just stacked up.....

hope your having a fabulous week!

200 years of wedding fashion....

Today l had the immense pleasure of viewing some of the most beautiful wedding dresses l have ever seen !! 200 years of wedding fashion took me by surprise. l had a strong emotional reaction to the dresses and their stories and in particular that of Baba Beaton sister of Cecil Beaton, the famous photographer. This dress literally took my breath away...it was designed by Charles James in 1934 London...cut on the bias this dress is simple yet so sophisticated and simply worn with wax orange blossom. There were many Georgian dresses with incredible design and fabric and the most tiny, tiny waists and tiny shoes. My favourite was a red dress worn in the late 30's it was a sheer silk with a faux silk lining small jet buttons from the neckline to the waist and a navy belt. I think it was the colour and the daring of this dress that so appealed to me it stood out with its blood red colour amongst the angelic white dresses. Another piece that caught my eye was the corset worn by Dita Von Teese, created by a  French corset maker. Meticulous in detail and the beauty of the lace and the cut and shape incredible. There are many contemporary dresses too and all beautiful in there own right. I was hoping to see more 1950's style dresses but alas this was not to be. If your anywhere near Bendigo go and see this exhibition to be surrounded by this amazing art is an experience.

Meet Muriel......

This is Muriel called so because she originally came from a shop by the same name! It's a shame you can't see her eyes (as they are so 60's and very pretty)  it was quite windy today and her mermaid mane kept tossing around.  She is looking for a new home where she can show off her vintage figure. This mannequin has an amazing body shape nothing like modern ones....

These 2 are currently in my shop window...the dress is a rayon fabric with the most wonderful  Oriental inspired print it has a side metal zip a lovely gathered  section above a full skirt very lovely...

And just in this hand blown glass dome from Austria. I had 2 but one did'nt even last 24 hours in the shop.It has such a beautiful pattern on it and looks great on it's own or you could use it display a special treasure.

You can't have too many old eiderdowns! This one is in excellent vintage condition with a pale green background and lovely little cherry red roses......sweet and very plump! This one is 180....

I had to show you these swimmers  l really love the fabric and the great little pom pom bust detail.....

This swimsuit/playsuit is a med or 10-12 and is 180....it's rare to find 2 the same!!

Here is a fabulous cape style coat perfect for spring weather and underneath a wonderful 1960's taffeta dress with a floral chiffon layer over the top....

A couple of fabulous old cottage chairs the rustic paint and the carved top on the large one is just to die for so sturdy and so comfortable...

Each week there is something new in-store and now is a great time to look to spring and freshen up your wardrobe and home, out with the old and in with the vintage he he he...
